Résumé du projet

Optomechanics is a fast growing field with important applications in fundamental and applied research such as slowing and storing light pulses, non-volatile memory devices, quantum information applications and very sensitive force measurements. Most of the devices in optomechanics are monolithic, they are based on a single material such as silicon, quartz, SiN, etc. Here we propose a novel approach for optomechanics based on an integrated GaAs/AlAs heterostructure which will serve as photonic cavity and phononic cavity; the same structure will confine both photons and phonons. This will allow strong coupling between photons and phonons and will open the route for new physics.
